The AI Feature I Chose Not to Build

As a therapist, I have complicated feelings about artificial intelligence. When AI became widely available, I was both fascinated and uneasy. Like a lot of people, I wondered where it would take us. Would it improve people's lives? Replace jobs? Weaken human connection? Change healthcare? I still don't know the…

Why it exists

Built in Eugene, for all of Oregon

I built this directory as a counselor in Eugene who got tired of out-of-date referral lists. When a profile carries the License verified mark, its license number has been matched to the roster of the Oregon board that issued it.

Searching is free. When you message a provider, it goes straight to their inbox, and your email is never shown publicly. You decide what to share and when.

From first search to first message

Start with your insurance card or a plain question.

Ask in plain words

Answers come from the directory’s own records, not the open web.

04

Send one private message

Write from the profile. It goes to the provider’s inbox with your email so they can reply, and it never appears on the site.

What the mark means

License verified means a matched license. No cost to search.

The License verified mark goes on a profile only after its license number matches the roster of the Oregon board that issued it. Every profile in search is verified on the directory first, and the mark shows which ones have a matched license.

If this is your first time

Four steps to a first session

Step 1

Type what is going on

Describe it the way you would to a friend, add a city or a plan, and press Enter. Verified providers come first in the results.

Step 2

Narrow it to who fits

Filter by insurance, fee, telehealth or in person, the ages someone sees, and the languages they speak.

Step 3

Not sure what to search?

Ask in your own words. The answer comes from the directory’s own records, not the open web. Or take the match quiz.

On your phone

The same directory, as an iPhone app

Search verified Oregon providers, read their profiles, save the ones you like, and take the match quiz from your phone. Articles and provider videos come along too.

  • Search verified providers by specialty, city or name
  • Profiles with photos, credentials, specialties and how to connect
  • The match quiz and Ask, in plain English
