Hi, I’m Becca! I use she/her pronouns. I am from the Midwest, though have called Portland home for a long while now. I went to both undergraduate and graduate school at the University of Michigan where I got a BA in Spanish/Gender Studies and Masters in Social Work. I have previous experience in social work & mental health roles in many settings including in Montessori and Head Start programs, hospice, foster care, community mental health, and group therapy practices. I now run my own private psychotherapy practice. Outside of work, I read, watch movies, go on lots of walks and bike rides, cook, and do various creative hobbies. I like to support the local music/art scenes. I am a native plants enthusiast and a dog lover.
I've been a therapist for over 8 years. I offer a warm, consistent, collaborative therapeutic relationship. I specialize in supporting my clients explore their internal worlds with compassion and curiosity so that they can improve and deepen their connections with themselves & with others. Much of my current work is with individuals experiencing challenges in relationships (of all kinds) or with those who just want to feel more connected in their relationships. I also work with people grappling with the effects of past relationship trauma(s) and all types of losses & life transitions. Even if you're feeling pretty good but simply interested in making deeper sense of your self, experiences, & relationships, please reach out!
More than anything, therapy with me will be focused on deepening emotional awareness and flexibility over time with the aim of developing richer, more meaningful connections and life experiences. My work is in-depth and relational. This often includes identifying relational and emotional patterns, working to understand how these have come to be, tending to older hurts and wounds, and more. While we might learn and try out some new skills together, this isn’t my primary focus. The clinical approaches that I am most informed by and like to incorporate include attachment theory, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS or "parts work"), and mindfulness/somatic practices.
