About Gil

After two decades in healthcare, I found my way to psychiatric care through an unconventional path, and I believe that has made a significant difference in my practice.

For 14 years, I worked night shifts in intensive care units at multiple Level 1 Trauma Centers in St. Louis. Initially, I was a psychiatric technician, and later, I became an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. The ICU provided me with a unique perspective on the full spectrum of human experience, from the depths of suffering to the remarkable capacity for recovery. These experiences profoundly shaped my approach to patient care.

In the ICU, I discovered a profound connection between physical and mental health. Patients in medical crises were often grappling with psychiatric issues, and vice versa. This understanding is the cornerstone of my approach to care, as I strive to view each person as a whole, considering not only their presenting symptoms but also their underlying mental health.

After earning my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree from Saint Louis University, I relocated to Portland, where I now reside in the Pacific Northwest. I provide in-person and Telehealth services to patients throughout the state of Oregon, ages 14 and above.

My approach is straightforward and collaborative. I am not here to prescribe medication and send patients home. Instead, I am committed to working closely with them, staying available between sessions, and adjusting their care as their lives evolve. What truly matters to me is that patients feel heard, informed, and empowered to take control of their own treatment.

Medication Management
Starting or adjusting psychiatric medication is a collaborative journey. My practice is built on a simple promise: we will never keep you on medication longer than necessary, and we always aim for the lowest effective dose.

Rather than a static prescription, medication management is an evolving partnership tailored to your life. Through regular check-ins, we continuously track your progress, manage side effects, and make prompt adjustments so your treatment aligns with your personal goals.

When you are ready to reduce or discontinue treatment, we will design a safe, personalized tapering plan. Guided by clinical evidence and your feedback, we adjust your care at a pace that feels safe, manageable, and right for you.
