About Amanda

Sometimes there are parts of ourselves, our desires, or our pasts that are difficult to share with others. This could be because the people around you don't seem to know how to respond, or could be related to feelings of fear, shame, confusion, or disgust. I work with clients to build enough relational safety to bring disowned or unknown parts of yourself into compassionate awareness. Therapy with me is a place to bring the things that others may have seen as "too much." I believe that it is possible to let ourselves know how bad things really are (like abuse, or climate change) and still experience joy and meaning in life.

I also help people differentiate between what is within their power and influence and what isn't. This involves challenging internalized oppression and inappropriate self blame while developing new skills, practicing courage and radical acceptance, and possibly reprocessing trauma memories so that triggers are less disabling.

Many of my current clients chose me because I know how to be responsive to marginalized experiences that they don't trust the average therapist hold. I know that there are unique considerations when working with folks who are community organizers, sex workers, disabled, chronically ill, neurodivergent, nonmonogamous, kinky, or adopted.
