About Cami
I’m Cami Sendre, a Licensed Professional Counselor with years of experience treating tweens, teens and adults. I currently live in Portland, Oregon, where I love working with clients seeking psychotherapy. My approach to therapy is that you are in charge. Though we will work collaboratively, I will follow your lead. When something specific is on your mind, we will follow that idea; when you don’t know what to say, silence is welcome. I’ll work to help you feel safe and understood, and may point out what could benefit from further exploration. I am compassionate, inquisitive, and fiercely attentive. I attune and listen deeply. I want to hear and know what is happening for you, and together we will come to understand and give words to it. It may be naming something for the first time or it may be processing more deeply an experience that is still lingering for you. The more comfortable you become, the more deeply we can dive into areas that are causing you difficulty. The relationship you and I build in therapy will help you within your relationships outside of therapy. Our work together will support safety in your nervous system and thus anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and relationship challenges - this includes challenges with warmth within yourself and with others. We will collaborate and utilize our joint expertise: yours about your life and experience, and mine about relational neuroscience and psychotherapy and ways to attend to what is currently causing difficulty. Together, we can come to understand and be with your concerns in new and rich ways, and that will be life-changing.
My approach is dynamic, eclectic, and insight-oriented, and I synthesize relational neuroscience practices, family systems thinking, psychoanalytic understanding and body-based techniques. I can help with things like:
*support for new mothers/parents
*resolving conflict in romantic relationships, friendships, family
*understanding communication struggles, making apologies and experiencing true repair
*cultivating and sustaining healthy relationships
*understanding of and relief for experiences of depression or anxiety
*safety and healing following trauma or sexual abuse
*processing & being with grief and loss
*support for women’s health and healing
*making transitions gracefully (both big and small), including emerging adulthood
I graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Political Theory and then from Central Michigan University with my Master’s degree in Professional Counseling. My first graduate class was Counseling with Children and I’ve never looked back. Since then I’ve continued my professional training in Relational Neuroscience, Structural Strategic Family Therapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Polyvagal theory, and TRE (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises) among other modalities. I am invested in my own growth, both personally and professionally.
I look forward to connecting with you.

I work with clients who feel like they don’t quite fit, who are questioning who they are, pushing against expectations, or tired of holding it all together. If you’re feeling anxious, disconnected, or unsure where you belong, therapy can be a place to figure that out without judgment.…
