Most, if not all emotional pain and healing happens within the context of relationships. Relationships are the agony and ecstasy of our lives, significantly shaping who we are throughout the lifespan. This impact begins with the scripts we are assigned in our family-of-origin, and later it influences our choices regarding mate selection and parenting style. Relationships can lead to psychological symptom development, and conversely, also hold the keys to personal growth, positive self-esteem and transformation. As a marriage and family therapist, my specialty is working in this dimension with individuals, couples and families.
