About This Practice
Wholehearted Counseling is a trauma-informed group practice in Salem, Oregon offering individual therapy, couples counseling, family therapy, psychiatric medication management, and substance use disorder services. We provide both in-person sessions at our Salem office and telehealth throughout Oregon.
Our team of licensed therapists and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner brings warmth, authenticity, and evidence-based care to every session. We specialize in working with adults and teens navigating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Many of the people we work with identify as LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, neurodivergent, and/or highly sensitive.
We draw from approaches including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Our work is grounded in nervous system awareness, compassion, and a deep respect for the complexity of each person's story.
We accept several insurance plans, including the Oregon Health Plan, and offer private pay options. Now accepting new clients for therapy and medication management.

Medication Management
Wholehearted Counseling offers psychiatric medication management through two experienced psychiatric nurse practitioners, April Cathaway, PMHNP, and Simona Borza, PMHNP. Our prescribers provide comprehensive medication evaluations and ongoing medication management in collaboration with our therapy team. April Cathaway also provides therapy services in addition to medication management.
Psychiatric services are available via telehealth to clients throughout Oregon and California. Oregon clients may use insurance where applicable. California clients are seen on a private pay basis. Both prescribers have immediate availability. Contact us to get started and we will match you with the right provider based on your needs and preferences.
