Couples counseling
Every relationship goes through hard seasons. Couples usually arrive at BCB Therapy after months or years of the same argument wearing a groove: about money, parenting, intimacy, or the slow drift into being roommates. There is no threshold you have to cross before counseling is worth it. Sooner beats later.
The approach
Couples work at BCB is grounded in emotionally focused therapy, which looks underneath the argument for the pattern driving it. The fight over the dishes usually traces back to a harder question: can you reach your partner when it matters? Sessions slow the cycle down, name what each person is actually feeling, and rebuild the responsiveness that made the relationship feel safe in the first place.
Where communication habits need direct repair, therapists fold in cognitive behavioral and solution-focused techniques. When one partner carries trauma into the relationship, EMDR or Brainspotting can run alongside the couples work.
Practical shape
Focused problems often resolve in eight to twelve sessions; deeper repair takes longer. First sessions cover the relationship's history and what each of you wants from the work, without pressure to perform or assign blame. Long-distance and busy couples meet by video; partners in different cities can join the same session from two screens, anywhere in Oregon.
