Kate Bentley

Hello, and thank you for considering my profile. I am a queer therapist licensed in Oregon and Washington with over 30 years of experience with mental health and substance use disorders. I work from a person-centered, relational approach grounded in understanding that much suffering stems from systemic oppression. I see the issues bringing people to therapy as adaptive coping strategies, and we explore more nourishing ways forward together. I bring a unique lens informed by both my clinical training and lived experience. I'm known for my relaxed, humorous, and kind demeanor, which helps people feel at ease.  I offer individual mental health and SUD counseling, assessments and letters for GAC, as well as psychedelic preparation and integration services. My areas of expertise include grief, life transitions, anxiety, depression, SUD's, navigating relationships with individuals who have an SUD, trauma / PTSD, as well as issues facing the LGBTQIA2S+ community.  I utilize practices from Brainspotting, Mindfulness, Somatic Awareness, Motivational Interviewing, Parts Work, The Invitation to Change Approach, CBT, DBT, 12 step, Harm Reduction, psychedelic preparation / integration and Self Compassion.
