The Office: A Small, Warm Room in Downtown Eugene

Ubuntu CounselingUbuntu Counseling·

Sessions happen in one room with books, games and natural light. Children, teens, adults, couples and families all use the same space, which is deliberate. Nobody gets sent to the children's room or the adults' room. It is just the room.

There is a couch, a low table, a bench under the windows, and shelves of games, art supplies and fidgets that are there to be used rather than looked at. Younger children usually find the floor within about a minute. Teenagers tend to sit and pick at something while they talk, which is fine and often helps.

Finding it

  • 132 E Broadway, Suite 303, Eugene, OR 97401
  • Third floor of a downtown Broadway building, with elevator access
  • Walkable from the downtown core and on local bus routes
  • A short drive across the river from most of Springfield

If anything about getting into the building is difficult, call me at (458) 215-1465 and I will work it out with you. That includes mobility, sensory load, or needing to know exactly what the entrance looks like before you arrive. Asking is not an imposition.

Sensory notes, since people ask

The room is quiet. Lighting is mostly daylight from the windows, and the blinds work. You are welcome to keep your coat on, sit on the floor, pace, use headphones between the hallway and the door, or bring your own comfort object. Stimming is welcome and eye contact is optional. None of that is an accommodation I grant. It is just how the room runs.

When the room is not the answer

Telehealth is available to anyone located in Oregon, and for plenty of people it is the better version rather than the fallback. No drive, no parking meter, no getting a child into the car twice. Some people come to Eugene for a first session and then move to telehealth, which tends to make the remote work feel less strange because we have already met in a room.

Hours are Wednesday through Friday, 10am to 6pm, and Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Start with a free 30-minute call.
