I am Dr. Grisel Lopez-Escobar, PhD, a licensed mental health counselor specializing in online therapy for adults experiencing religious trauma, religious deconstruction, faith crises, and recovery from high-control and high-demand religions, groups, and cults. I work with clients who are questioning, deconstructing, leaving, or adjusting to life after a high-control religious environment.
My work also includes religious residue, purity culture, shunning and estrangement, loss of community and identity, fear and shame related to former beliefs, and interfaith or mixed-faith relationship concerns. My approach is secular and trauma-informed, and I am trained in EMDR Levels I & II.
