Breaking Barriers. Restoring Resilience.
Facing Giants is a resilience-centered community and resource space for women, children, and families, and the practice home for Caroline Fithen, MA’s Divorce & Family Strategy Consulting.
Facing Giants was created around a simple belief: families should not have to wait until something becomes a crisis, diagnosis, or clinical concern before they can access meaningful support. Sometimes what is needed is better language, practical tools, education, connection, and opportunities to build skills that can be used in everyday life.
Through Facing Giants, women and families can access educational workshops and groups, parenting and child-development resources, practical tools, community programming, family-friendly spaces, and non-clinical strategy and advocacy support.
Programming is designed to make complex concepts more understandable and usable for both adults and children. Workshops may address emotional literacy, self-regulation, healthy relationships, personal safety, boundaries and consent, communication, social skills, resilience, violence prevention, parenting, and family connection. Programs such as Inside Out & Our Feelings, Keeping It Regulated, and Emotional Self-Defense use age-appropriate education, discussion, movement, play, creative activities, and practical tools to help children and caregivers build language and skills they can continue using at home.
Many Facing Giants programs are intentionally designed for mothers and children to participate together. Children benefit from learning concrete language for emotions, bodies, boundaries, relationships, and safety, while parents gain shared language they can reinforce outside the group. Other programs provide women with space to strengthen boundaries, communication, self-advocacy, discernment, and practical skills for navigating difficult relationships and family circumstances.
Facing Giants also offers spaces and resources for families who may need something different from a traditional clinical setting. Programming is developmentally informed, trauma-responsive, resilience-centered, and grounded in prevention and harm reduction. The goal is not to pathologize ordinary emotions, difficult seasons, or every parenting challenge, but to increase access to tools and support that may strengthen families and reduce isolation before concerns become more significant.
Caroline’s Divorce & Family Strategy Consulting is one part of this broader work. She provides non-clinical consulting for women navigating difficult relationships, separation and divorce, domestic violence and coercive dynamics, parenting and family transitions, professional and legal systems, self-advocacy, and the practical process of determining what comes next.
Women do not need to be divorcing to work with Caroline. Some already have attorneys, therapists, advocates, child providers, or other professionals but are struggling to integrate recommendations into everyday life, communicate their concerns effectively, organize information, or advocate for themselves and their children. Strategy consulting provides a place to slow down, clarify priorities, strengthen language and boundaries, prepare for important conversations, and develop practical next steps.
Caroline brings graduate education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling along with professional experience and training in domestic violence advocacy, child abuse prevention, behavioral health, family support, program development, prevention, and non-legal systems navigation. She is not practicing as a therapist and does not provide counseling, diagnosis, mental health treatment, legal advice, or legal representation.
Across Facing Giants, the larger goal is to reduce isolation, strengthen resilience, increase access to practical education and tools, and give women, children, and families more language and capacity for navigating the circumstances in front of them.
Workshops, groups, community events, family resources, and consulting appointments are available through Facing Giants. Current programming, reservations, and additional information can be found on the Facing Giants website.
