About Me

Higher Ground Counseling is a specialized behavioral health practice dedicated to helping youth, adults, and families heal from trauma, sexual abuse, and problematic sexual behaviors. Founded in 2016, the practice was created in response to the fragmented services often available to families navigating these complex and sensitive issues. Our clinicians provide individual, family, and group therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. While we treat a broad range of mental health concerns, our core expertise centers on trauma-informed care for individuals impacted by sexual abuse and youth who have engaged in problematic or illegal sexual behaviors. A defining feature of Higher Ground Counseling is our ability to work with the entire family system. In situations involving sexual harm within families, different therapists within our organization can simultaneously support the youth who caused harm, the survivor, and caregivers. This coordinated approach allows families to engage in a structured process of accountability, healing, and—in appropriate cases—clarification and reunification. Many of the families we serve are also involved with systems such as juvenile justice, child welfare (DHS/CPS), schools, or residential programs. Our clinicians have extensive experience collaborating with these systems and helping families navigate the legal and social challenges that often accompany high-risk situations. In addition to therapy, Higher Ground Counseling provides consultation, risk assessments, training, and professional supervision for other clinicians and community partners. Our mission is to support healing, accountability, and long-term safety—helping individuals and families move forward with resilience and hope.
